other purposes like a dedicated podcast blog and a roundtable debate blog.

Used for class-blogging, eportfolios, and other academic personal content management, and offered freely to members of the University of Calgary community.
It’s currently in semi-private (or at least semi-unpublicized) launch mode, with nearly 200 users and about as many blogs. Several faculty members are using the service already to manage the online discussions

Tell us some stuff about it: The Luxury Life is using WPMU as a publishing platform for posts about luxury related brands and services.
The site makes extensive use of custom fields to make is easy for the editor (a non-techie) to control everything in a post.
Wikiroma it’s a cityblog network about Rome, Italy. The hard work of this mashup was to mix the MU network with a magazine-style homepage that show posts that users can filter for category or city-area.
In this way bloggers can build a real-time magazine for speaking about Rome as a newspaper.
This is a first-of-its-kind blogging tools for missionaries across Africa. I started with WPMU 2.6, tweaked
it for low-bandwidth bloggers, built the front-end to look like an online newsmagazine- compiling stories from across Africa and grouping similiar ministries together through a customized sign-up.
It also provides resources for missionaries to know how to blog, share photos/videos, newsletters, etc…
JISC Involve uses WPMU to offer blogs to the JISC staff, teams, projects and just about anyone in UK higher
education who asks.
It grew from being a side project to a major part of JISCs outreach activity.

Open blog system for the offroad community – WPMU installation with some plugins and community
features.
Also used as some kind of a directory for other interesting offroad blogs, which are imported via feed.
This is a Norwegian site, with only Norwegian blogs. I’ve worked on it for almost two years, and started
it to give Norwegian users a place to have a blog with NO ads in Norwegian.
I’ve learned a lot building this site, and I’m pleased with the result. I’ve done quite a lot of tweaking and made a lot of custom plugins (that I’ll never release :-) )
Needless to say, this is not a project I’m doing to make money, this is to “give something back” to the GPL/WP/WPMU community.
The “tazblogs” is the blogging platform for writers and friends of the German newspaper “die tageszeitung”.
Most impressive is the big filter function. You can for example get the most commented posts in political blogs.
Explore With Me is a travel blog also allowing users to create their very own travel blog and also join our
social community (BuddyPress).
Explore With Me is very new (1 month) and is not 100% complete as the BuddyPress plugin has still not officially been released. However we do have a few members and have had some great traffic and feedback so far!

The Institute of Network Cultures is a media research centre that actively contributes to the field of network cultures through research, events, publications and online dialogue.
The old Institute of Network Cultures portal consisted of a custom-made CMS with a few additional custom CMS and WordPress installations for all the different projects. The old CMS has been replaced with a WordPress MU installation perfectly suited for the easy addition of new projects in the future. A few old blogs and projects have been imported into WPMU to gather more projects under one roof.
The Institute of Network Cultures weblog, running on an old Movable Type installation, has been redesigned and relaunched as well.
Bloghost.cl was the first chilean blog hosting service and now that its somewhat established we are moving on to dominate the rest of the spanish talking countries, specially Latin America.

Implementing custom buddypress and wpmu together for a youth site.
This is the campus blogging platform for Smith College. It was launched in September and currently has 209
blogs and 199 users. It’s currently being used by staff, faculty, students, administrative departments, clubs, and courses.
The main blog publishes tips & tutorials, there is a Featured blog that also publishes to the front page, and the site uses sitewide tags.
Plenty of other sites allow parents to create online scrapbooks and keepsake photo albums, but no other site makes it easier for busy parents to collect and organize memories from invited family members and friends.

This is a brand-new (6 months old) MU site for a high school, where every teacher, department, sport, and
club can have a blog. We brought some content from our old Manila site, but a lot of it is new.
GetShopped.com is WordPress.com for people that want to setup a shop and sell their goods and services

GetShopped uses the latest version of WPMU, it utilizes a range of WPMU DEV Premium plugins, we use HyperDB for speeding things up and our theme files are hosted on Amazon S3.
We are currently integrating a range of BuddyPress plugins to transform our e-Commerce site builder into a thriving e-Commerce commerce community.
Radio 6 is a Dutch Radio Station. On this site all the blogs and programs come together.
2007/2008 is ‘International Polar Year’. Noorderlicht en NWO therefore started a series of weblogs, filled with diaries, pictures en video’s by scientists on polar expedition.
DocBlogs are weblogs by documentary makers on the website of Holland Doc, a documentary platform. Anyone who reads the DocBlogs, will learn a lot about the ‘making of’ of a particular documentary.
Besides the makers, also correspondents and columnists are writing about the documentary’s theme.

This is a pilot program using WPMU for an eportfolio platform for a multi-campus public honors college (William E. Macaulay Honors College of the City University of New York). We are interested in providing our students with a flexible publishing platform for collecting, reflecting on, and presenting their work as college students (inside the classroom and outside). We’re just in the first two months since the roll-out, but we’re already seeing students and faculty using these eportfolios for a variety of purposes, some of which we didn’t expect.
Because WPMU is flexible in design and function, we have personal blogs, class blogs, teaching blogs, traditional eportfolios, and some of the functionality of course management systems. And our students can express their own sense of design and creative engagement.
