In the past few days the plugin repository has been flooded with new plugins for helping WordPress-powered sites protest the SOPA/PIPA bills. Everyone is rallying together to speak out against this very destructive bill that will be voted on January 24, 2012. An organized blackout will take place on January 18th. The following plugins will make it possible for you to participate in the blackout and/or protest on your own site with just a couple clicks. It’s not too late!
Stop SOPA Ribbon
This plugin adds a simple black ribbon with the words “Stop SOPA” to the top right corner of your website. The ribbon links to the American Censorship website.
Censor Me
Censor Me is a plugin that helps you to protest censorship legislation. It essentially turns your site off The admin bar is left in place so that you can get in to turn the plugin on or off. Check out the live demo.
SOPA Blackout
The SOPA Blackout plugin adds a temporary 503 status and customisable page on your site to help you automatically join the blackout on January 18th. The page displayed during the blackout is entirely customizable through the plugin’s settings page and your search engine rankings will not be affected because it sends a 503 status.
Stop SOPA
The Stop SOPA plugin adds a small protest box to your website which is collapsed by default. The box appears once clicked. The settings page allows you to specify the position of the protest box. It also includes a “Blackout Day” option that you can turn on in order to have your site participate in the January 18th blackout.
Simple SOPA Blackout
We featured this plugin a few days ago, as it was one of the first available for making it easy to join the blackout. It works on January 18th to blackout your site between 8am and 8pm local time.
SOPA Blackout Plugin
The SOPA Blackout plugin has a few more options than the others of its kind. The settings allow you to select the blackout dates as well as a variety of options for when the anti-SOPA message is shown. If you want, you can elect to show the message only on the first time the visitor is on your site and then allow them to continue through. You can also set a cookie, configure the display link, and set the page on which the SOPA message is displayed.
Go Dark
This plugin enables WordPress-powered websites to ‘go dark’ on January 18th with a customizable message and start/end times. You can customize the message displayed on the front end in protest of SOPA/PIPA and optionally display either a stylized “Censored” sign or seal.

I have 3 lives sites which will be going offline. One of them is already down until after this garbage legislation gets shot down in flames. If it doesn’t? It may be time to re-evaluate what the hell I’m doing with my life.
I refuse to be controlled & policed by corporate conglomerates any more than I already am being.
This disgusts me beyond words. We’ve all been sold out. I can’t imagine anything that proves it more than this.
Sorry for the rant. This topic really pisses me off. It *should* be causing bi-partisan outrage, not bi-partisan cooperation trying to get it passed.
Great list of plug-ins. Wish I was able to use one of these on some of the sites I maintain.
these are some great options! thank you for sharing! I am definately going to check some out and see what one is best for me ;)
Great suggestions on plugins to use in order to fight SOPA and PIPA which is going to be voted on the 24th of January which is not to far away.

I release two pics by myself in the public domain, to protest against Pipa Sopa. Use them as you want if you like them. Distribute as you want. You could even make money with them if you could (such as selling T-Shirts). They are copyright-free:

Self Censorship???
…on the internet?
What country are we living in? IRAN???
Surprise folks! Iran has such a law!
…something called juriprudent! (…basically watch out on what you say or think…and always put yourself in the “clerics” shoes considering what they might find “inappropriate or offensive…yeah illegal!)
Soon we will have the same legislative structure as Iran! (…a bureau of “voice and communications” where every letter of the alphabet is scrutinized and rejected for “perceived” meaning and such!!! …then we can move to the next step…closed door trials where the accused will not know what they are being charged with…not to mention secret jails/prisons and then hit squads!!!)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
If this so-called law passes here in the US we will be moving backwards a few centuries!!! (We the people must consider a new revolution!!!)
If you pass this “law” you must also pass a law where you must wear “head gear” while passing future laws! (just like the ayatollahs!!!)
Do not “sell out” the forefathers and their wisdom/legacy!!!
The people have spoken Mr/Mrs lawmakers/representatives…consider your actions and while passing such laws…because your will be doing it without representing me!!!
