With the release of BuddyPress we’ve updated 2 of our BuddyPress themes to make sure right from the launch of the full release you can stay up to date with our themes. Expect the rest of our themes to be updated very shortly.
So what’s new in BuddyPress 1.2? There are tons of new features quite literally with a lot of template changes. BuddyPress 1.2 really is a major release and one you shouldn’t miss to upgrade to. Here are just a few of the new features.
- Activity Streams: This is the biggest area of change with it being more interactive and merging a lot of the features previously found in other areas of BuddyPress such as the wire and groups messages. You can now post messages directly to the site wide stream and there is some ajax goodies to make the stream filterable. Couple this with threaded commenting and you have a truly interactive conversational activity stream.
- New theme structure and new default theme: There are a lot of template changes not just to accommodate the new activity stream focus. Along with this a brand new default theme has been released. All of our themes will take advantage of this new template structure and features.
- Support for single WordPress installs: This is now by default in BuddyPress
- Simplified installation
- Lots and lots of bug fixes
