I like this. This approach is different than the Buddymatic approach that starts with a WP.org theme and uses BP theme only for what it needs. Lisa's way seems more future proof for BP, but I'd love to hear opinions.

@Bowe, @James and @Dustin - thank you for your feedback and comments.
I think she is still developing the 'market' portion of her site and will be adding an e-commerce piece to it in short time. We should, however, place some sort of placeholder there, now that you mention it :)

@Dustin - the code snippets are included here to give you an idea of what was implemented in the individual sections .. feel free to nab 'em and build upon them. In both instances (contributors status updates and forums links) I have provided the full code snippet of what I'm using there to accomplish those bits. Just placed the snippet inside a(n) (executable) text widget.

Cheers, everyone!

Nice article and BuddPress deployment.
Makes me want to get back into some more BuddyPress stuff.

Are the fill code snippets available for the above mentioned techniques? (the queries that lead up to the foreach statement).

Also, I noticed the "Market" tab lead to a 404..

Thanks.

Hi,

I am really impressed by this site. Well it's not my "genre" I really like the overall look and feel of the customizations made to BP. You can clearly see that Lisa put a lot of time and effort into making all the site elements fit together, and no page or features feels rushed or underdeveloped function and style-wise.

Top notch job :)
