  1. Ooops! CSS activity and Runners Buzz have the oposite images! ;)

  2. Y Juanma ? Para cuando TUS comunidades ?

Juanma, we are waiting for YOUR communities !

  3. @Jose

Hi! Sadly I felt forced to switch to another platform since I think that some features are key (not core) to incentive the community to grow together (events, advanced users search with filters)… And plus BP changes rapidly with every update (I’m sick of my language sheet to be erased every time also) and the plugins that work marvelous simply become broken or something like that.

I think this is a HUGE project and, in time, will be one of the best choices. But it’s still on diapers on some aspects.

Now, i bet you didn’t think your little and nice comment would trigger such a large and unexpected response! :D

    Regards!

  4. Another site: http://www.secretzen.com
It’s done with BuddyPress, but has a bunch of customizations to make it anonymous. Not the prettiest-looking one out there, but twists BP around a fair bit. (Disclaimer: I worked on converting them over to BP)

  5. cery Nice lidt.

Im currently working on another niche specific buddypress site. Check out http://www.blogbowler.com. A site for bowlers obviously.

Planninh to do some customization in the future. Cant wait to see what buddypress comes up with.

  6. Sorry should have said very nice list in the beginning :)

  7. Juan – Nice catch. Thanks! I’ve switched the images.

  8. You’re welcome! :)

  11. Just finished my other niche buddypress site. Check it out at http://www.travel-blog.me for your free travel blog and social network.

  12. http://culture360.org is an Asia-Europe arts and culture niche social network funded by the European Commission. Created for and fuelled by artists, cultural practitioners and policy makers. It was re-launched in April 2010 on WordPress 3Beta1 & BuddyPress.

  13. Nice! Will check it out :) Thanks for all the links, guys!

  14. Nice list Sarah,

    I thought I also mention http://www.Typeboard.com it’s a citizen/community journalism and information website using WP.3 and BuddyPress.

    Cheers

  15. Just started a community with BuddyPress myself – a site for chatty doll collectors, whatever takes their fancy. I had been using Drupal, but somehow the functionality was utter overkill – and I’m far more comfortable tweaking WordPress code and themes.

  17. We Just launched our Grade-Yo! site for people to freely Grade their Leaders Performance and share with the world why they graded them the way they did. This is a massive initiative where all world Leaders are/will be featured including Country Leaders, Entertainment Leaders, Corporate Leaders and Spiritual/Religious Leaders as they all impact our way of life one way or another. The site is http://www.gradeyo.com and is a smooth and nice combination of WordPress and Buddypress with some extra cool PHP customizations. This site is a good illustration that Buddypress and WordPress can be used to create simple and slick sites similar to Twitter yet even more powerful. Check it out, join and why not start grading Leaders.

  18. We have started a niche social site for expat/english speakers in Barcelona called http://barcelona-underground.com. We have used buddypress to create the network and buddyvents (an events calender plugin we got from ShabuShabu listed in your post!)

With buddypress always changing though it is hard to keep all the attached plugins working correctly. i have had to temporarily disable the buddyvents as the version we had is not working with the new buddypress. I have a few friends that are soon starting a new site and i had previously recommended buddypress for this reason I am not sure now.
