We’ve got a quick couple of new plugins for you before Xmas, and the first is a new version of an old favourite… it’s theme switchery made all modern and BuddyPress-compatible.

Advanced Theme Switcher essentially allows you to offer your BuddyPress users the chance to switch between different themes.

Or, it provides you with the opportunity to profile different theme designs on a BuddyPress or WPMU site.

It comes complete with a handy widget that allows you to offer either a list or dropdown choice of themes:

And, once activated, it’ll look much the same as this (depending, of course, on your original theme):

The coolest thing about this tool (for us at least) is that it allows us to show previews of different theme designs via nice URLS, for example:

http://buddypressthemes.org/theme-preview/BuddyPress+Social/ – shows you an example of the BuddyPress Social theme

And you can click around once you are on those URLs to get a real feel for how the theme works, looks and feels.

How cool is that… a must have for anyone wanting to offer their users maximum flexibility of personalisation, or demonstrate to clients different layout options on a WPMU or BuddyPress site.
