Get Experimental BuddyPress Features with BP Labs

Paul Gibbs, one of the BuddyPress core developers, has released a new plugin called BP Labs that offers some experimental BuddyPress features. The current experiments running on BP Labs are @mentions autosuggest and Quick Admin.

@mentions autosuggest helps BuddyPress users to be able to easily find the short name of a user. BP Labs has integrated this new feature into comments, the “What’s New” activity status box, Private Messaging (body) and bbPress forums.

Display Your Instagram Photos as a Gallery with WordPress

Instagram fans will love the new Instagram Gallery Widget for WordPress. It gives you the ability to display your Instagr.am pictures in a simple and elegant gallery, as pictured here.

There are a few other Instagram plugins out there already, but the Instagram Gallery Widget has far more features than most of the others. The only other comparable plugin would be InstaPress.

Get Full-Featured Mass Messaging For BuddyPress

One of the main challenges of hosting your own BuddyPress social network is making it easy for members to communicate with one another. BuddyPress does not include mass messaging as part of the default download, but you can now get it with the new Mass Messaging in BuddyPress plugin.

This plugin gives you the ability to offer mass messaging for:

Quickly Clone and Migrate WordPress Sites with the Duplicator Plugin

Cloning a WordPress site for use in another location can be sometimes be a fairly involved process, requiring the use of an FTP client, phpMyAdmin, and multiple file edits. I’m excited about the Duplicator plugin, because it reduces this process to three easy steps:

1. Create a package
2. Download
3. Install in the new location
