The quest for the perfect Twitter plugin can be a long road. There are hundreds of Twitter-related plugins on wordpress.org alone and more available from commercial plugin sites such as Codecanyon and the like. Since we do quite a bit of publishing on WPMU.org, we are always on the lookout for a solid, reliable plugin that will help us manage sending posts to Twitter.

What’s the first thing most people do after installing WordPress? Why, install plugins and themes, of course! The usual process is to add plugins one by one. Now there’s an excellent new tool available that will speed things up, especially if you plan to install more than just a handful of plugins.
Bulk Plugin Installation is a new plugin that allows you to install one or more plugins simply by typing their names or download URLs in a new textarea added to the “Add New” plugin page.

In the years I’ve been working with WordPress and Social Media, I’ve seen applications come and go for managing all your Social Media streams from a single dashboard. Some of these have been pretty decent applications, but I’ve not seen too many of them survive. But, so far, I’ve not seen a system that curates all your Social Media streams into a single application for the world to see. Also, I’ve not seen anything that will bring this into your WordPress website in a presentable manner.

Merry Christmas!! Well, Christmas has passed, but on Christmas Eve WordPress users received an early Christmas gift. There is a confirmed security issue with the W3 Total Cache WordPress Plugin that can expose your WordPress website to crackers. This issue is a little more serious than most that I’ve seen because it exposes your user passwords in a cache file. First, let’s look at why you might want to use W3 Total Cache and then we’ll examine the vulnerability.
What Does It Do?

WordPress is one of the best and most widely used content publishing platforms on the planet, but the default post editing process is quite one dimensional. Most of the time it’s one voice with one author putting his ideas out there. I’d like to introduce you to Participad, an innovative new plugin that transforms content creation into a much more social, collaborative and dynamic process. It makes realtime collaboration a reality within WordPress.

Sure, the world has changed in many ways since the rise of the web, but some things are so iconic that they’ve stayed the same even if they don’t really make sense in a digital environment.
Take, for example, coupons. Even though it would be physically impossible to cut them out of a website, many still choose to show a dotted line around online coupons as if you could. That dotted line triggers something deep inside many people. It means “DEAL” or “DISCOUNT!”

Here’s a new plugin to add to your WordPress developer toolbox. Debug This gives WordPress super admins the ability to access debugging information through the admin bar on any page. Not only does it display errors, it also gives you a succinct summary of what scripts, styles, actions, filters, queries, etc. are active on the selected page.
Debug This displays valuable debugging information in a tidy, readable screen that’s easy to close out.
These are just a few of the debug modes included in the plugin:
oEmbed providers
Post attachments
Variety of WP_Query modes
Variety of PHP modes (defined functions, constants, classes, phpinfo, etc…)

Royal Slider has been a popular premium slider plugin for a long time, and the all-new version of the old favorite is a good option for your WordPress sites. It is fully responsive, gives you the ability to add multiple animated HTML blocks, and has almost a dozen templates for adding things like thumbnail navigation, deep linking, video, and more.

You escaped the end of the Mayan calendar and are no doubt looking forward to 2013. Your WordPress site, however, might not be so lucky. Doomsday could be right around the corner, lurking in the darkness of the internet, waiting to hack and exploit your /wp-admin area. Brute force login attempts and lousy passwords can make even the most sophisticated website susceptible to destruction. In an instant your site could be turned into a Canadian pharmacy or Russian dating site.
