BuddyPress developer Boone Gorges announced today on the BP Development Blog that BuddyPress 1.6 will include some basic privacy options for user profile fields. This new feature will be called “Visibility”. Having some form of profile privacy is one of the most-requested features for BuddyPress and very soon it will be a reality.
Individual users will be able to edit their profile field visibility on a field-by-field basis.
If you don’t want to leave the privacy options up to the users, site admins can select a default visibility level for the fields they create and then force the field to maintain the defaults.
There are two new filters available for developers who want to work with the profile field visibility. Boone will be creating a sample plugin in the near future to help developers get started with some of the possibilities. Thats awsome but we rly need activity privacy, and theres already a plugin for the profile privacy
I don’t think the profile privacy plugin is supported any longer and it doesn’t do the same thing as the core visibility feature that they’re adding.
Oh, apologies then im using a plugin called “BuddyPress Profile Privacy” By modemloops…very similar any ideas when a activity privacy will come out? all the plugins are outdated and do not work with 1.5+

I think they missed the boat. They should have added two more options under “Who can see this field?” that says “only me” and “admin only”… Instead I’m scouring umpteen pages of different forums looking for a way to hide fields and no one has an actual answer! Very frustrating!
