Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time, and it’s nice if you can be the person to offer that assistance. There are some WPMU DEV plugins and themes that can make that even easier – and what’s best is that they make your Help and Support site remarkably easy to set up.
For this tutorial we’re going to use one WPMU DEV theme and one WPMU DEV plugin:
I’m going to show you how to create a Help and Support site in less than five minutes. Don’t think it’s possible? Give it a go and see how quick it is!
Here are the steps:
- Download the Edu-Knows Theme
- Download the Q&A Plugin
- Extract the Edu-Knows theme to the themes folder on your server using your favorite FTP software:

- Extract the Q&A Plugin to the plugins folder on your server:

- Navigate to your site. Visit Appearance > Themes. Activate the Edu-Knows Theme:

- Visit Plugins. Activate the Q&A plugin

- Setup pretty permalinks (Q&A doesn’t work without them). Go to Settings>Permalinks

- Visit http://yoursite.com/questions/ask to ask your first question:

- Create a custom menu with the following links:
- Questions: http://yoursite.com/questions
- Ask a Question: http://yoursite.com/questions/ask
- Unanswered Questions: http://yoursite.com/questions/unanswered

Done!

I get the white screen when I activate Edu Knows theme.
Actually, I get white screen when I try to preview it, and the site goes offline when I activate it.
Hi Scot,
You may want to check your error logs to see what they say. If you’re unable to access your site because of the white screen, you can remove the theme by deleting the theme folder via FTP.
You may also want to check your activated plugins for any possible conflict that would cause trouble upon the theme activation.
The site is fine when changing to another theme. No plugins other than Akismet.
@Scot, I’m not quite sure what would cause the issue in this case, as I’ve got the theme running on a number of sites. Are you using the latest version of the theme and WordPress?
Will this plugin work with a thesis theme.
thak you
