Add Additional Fields to BuddyPress Group Pages

BuddyPress Group Plus is a new plugin that allows you to expand your BuddyPress group pages with more information. It offers two additional/optional fields for your BuddyPress groups:

  • New field allows groups to link to an external website
  • Ability to add an extra field that you define

Here’s a screenshot of an example of how this would appear on the group creation page:

The information from the new fields is then added to the group’s header:

Group admins are able to edit the details:

The plugin’s settings page allows site administrators to customize the labels for the group fields, as well as enable or disable extra fields:

BuddyPress Group Plus is a great way to add a few more customization options for the groups component. Download it for free from the WordPress plugin repository.

  1. Thanks for the post Sarah, I have completely rewritten the plugin from the ground up. There will be a a lot more features including an optional group tab having a group map, two text fields, two text areas along with two text field for the group header.

Each element is optional and can be customized so I think it will be a great plugin to further the possibilities of bp groups.

Should see a update in the next 48 hours :)

    • Hi,
Great plugin ! I’d love to see one which enables this kind of options for all BP components. Espcially let you set a Title (and Meta Description) for all BP pages, inclusive the homepage of your site when you choose one of BP pages to be it (for example : choose BP Activity page as your homepage).

Anyway. I get an error message :
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_get_groups_root_slug() in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-plus/admin.php on line 27

      Any idea ?
      Best Regards

  2. Whilst reworking the group header meta features, I found a bug that killed the group description – has been sorted and will be in the next update.

Just a heads up for anyone playing around with it.
