There are several ways that you can set up backups for your site. Plugins can help but it’s really a server job. Plus if you’re dealing with a large site, you’re need something a little more reliable. You can run a script to backup your WordPress site to FTP. Another option is to set up a cron job to automatically backup your WordPress site. If you have a very large database, we have a guide that will help you back it up smoothly without timeouts.   1. Hi Sarah, thanks for this post. I have always stressed the importance of backing up everything. Unfortunately, there are some so called WordPress experts out there that I heard tell people by using the export tool, that’s all the backup you need. Agh!

    Question, I have a few clients who have started using BuddyBackup, a premium WP plugin. I have tried it myself and found good results. Any thoughts on that?

  2. It seems like all these scripts were written for a single WP database. Are you aware of any for WPMU/Multi-DB?
