Drag and drop media upload is one of my favorite features of WordPress. However, when you have post thumbnails enabled, it doesn’t work with the featured image upload.
Drag & Drop Featured Image is a simple little plugin that does exactly what it says – it transforms the “Set featured image” metabox into a drag and drop zone.
It also includes an options panel where you can select the post types for which you want the drag and drop upload box to be available, as well as limit the allowed file types.
It works just as the regular upload does to compress all sizes and respect any custom image sizes. You can download the Drag & Drop Featured Image plugin from the WordPress repository.
