Easily Edit Custom Post Types in the WordPress Dashboard
Need to make a few changes to the built-in WordPress post types or a custom post type? Custom Post Type Editor is a new plugin that makes it possible for you to edit post types without having to touch any code.
The plugin will recognize and list any registered post types:
The Custom Post Type Editor enables you to edit any of the following post types:
- The Posts Custom Post Type (created by WordPress Core)
- The Pages Custom Post Type (created by WordPress Core)
- The Media Custom Post Type (created by WordPress Core)
- Any Custom Post Type that is created by a WordPress plugin
- Any Custom Post Type that is created by a WordPress theme
For example, if you’d like to rename “Posts” to “Articles” or “News Updates”, you can do this directly in the dashboard with this plugin installed. You can edit any of the labels for that post type:

You can safely use this plugin without worrying about your posts. The Custom Post Type Editor doesn’t modify any core WordPress files and it doesn’t change any of your plugin or theme files. It makes use of WordPress’ hooks and filters to override the post type definitions that you want to change. If you decide that you don’t need this plugin in the future, you can safely deactivate it. All custom post type definitions will revert back to their defaults and none of your posts will be lost.
