Instapaper is a simple tool to save web pages for reading later. It helps if you are publishing longer articles that someone might want to read later when time permits. The WordPress plugin repository has several options for helping make your blog more accessible to readers who are using this service:

Instapaper Friendly

Instapaper Friendly is a new plugin that uses the Instapaper Publisher guidelines to ensure that when a user saves your blog’s content to Instapaper, the content is optimized with comments and other unnecessary items removed.

Instapaper Read Later Links

The Instapaper Read Later Links plugin adds ‘Read later’ links next to each post on your blog, similar to what you see on Give Me Something To Read. It inserts the links automatically, or you can use it by adding the template tags to your theme.

Social Bookmarking Services

If you don’t need to display the Instapaper link so prominently, another option is to add a set of social bookmarks to your site, using a plugin like AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Button or Simple Social Bookmarks. Most of these kinds of plugins allow you to customize which social bookmarks you want to make available or which you’d like to appear at the top of the menu. This is a great option if you don’t want the “Read later” button showing up so prominently in your theme.

People are constantly bombarded by more information than they can take in during the work day. If you make your WordPress blog available for reading later, your users will be able to read it on the train, while waiting at the doctor’s office, or anywhere they happen to be with time on their hands.
