Pilot Fish: A Free Responsive Portfolio Theme for WordPress

Pilot Fish is a brand new portfolio theme in the WordPress Theme Directory, created by Daniel Zhao. This theme features a minimalist style with a responsive design and a custom post type for projects / portfolio items.

It also includes a cool parallax scrolling effect that you can only see if you view the live demo.

The portfolio is nicely arranged on a full-width page with mouseover titles linking to each project page.

If you want a nice simple online portfolio to showcase your work, check out the Pilot Fish theme. This is one you definitely will want to bookmark. Download it for free from WordPress.org.

  1. That is a really fast loading theme without a lot of frills. That would be a good theme to combine with MarketPress to take advantage of the cool way the projects are displayed. Could be used to display products instead of projects.

Would make for a fast, lightweight and responsive online store.

  2. I’ve had some success using portfolio-based themes as stores. Usually they have a custom post type for the projects, I use a redirection plugin to automatically redirect the visitor to the product page and the project page is only there to populate the project archive pages.

It’s good way to take advantage of the nice features that designers are putting into portfolio-based themes. Here’s an example of one I did using that concept that takes advantage of the javascript project sorting: http://demostore2.teatra.de/products/
