There are many recent posts widgets available for WordPress, but what if you happen to want to exclude a few categories from the recent posts list? You’ll need a more specialized widget for that. Categories Recent Post is a plugin that was created for this purpose. It gives you the ability to check the categories from which you want to display posts, as seen below:
