Oftentimes when working with themes and plugins, you’ll want to be able to easily find the ID for a post, page, category, etc. Now you can add IDs into the dashboard with the new WP Show IDs plugin. It’s both handy and elegant and will probably save you a bit of time if you often find yourself hunting for ID’s. Simply install and activate and ID’s will appear as shown in the screenshot below:
WP Show IDs also supports WordPress 3.0+, even Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies, as well as Multisite installations.

this is an awesome and simple plugin. I always have to go to the edit post link to find the id of a post. Or sometimes I have to put it into the single.php file and then delete it when i am done.
Instead I will just use this and then disable it when i am done using it.
Thanks for the tip!
Why don’t you just point on the link and see the id in the link.
You can have plugins for all sorts of things, but don’t overload you WordPress ;)
Name.ly – That’s what I do, just look at the URL, but some users don’t know to do that so this is a helpful plugin for them.
Thank you for this! This helps a lot for sites that you make, but whose content have to be moderated by other people. :)
Thanks again Sarah. New site needing ID’s and your article popped up. Many thanks. This is one of those “essential” plug ins. If you’ve found a better one, please let me know.
