Sometimes the user gets dropped on a page by google that isn't exactly what they're looking for, so that's why I like the sidebar placement of it. Sidebars are pretty much ignored now a days. Most folks with Adsense will tell you that. My own click through rate between under the content vs adverts in the sidebar is 3:1.
