How did you add the floating bottom sidebar on this website?

I really like the floating sidebar that you have on this site, and I was wondering if you were using a plugin or if it was coded directly into the theme. I have one on my site http://www.thecampuscompanion.com/, but for some reason I can’t get it to terminate at the bottom of the page. When it reaches the footer it starts to float over the footer content on certain pages.
Would you be willing to share how you got the floating sidebar to work for you? The only thing I can find in the WordPress repository is the strx floating sidebar plugin but it’s not that great. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/strx-magic-floating-sidebar-maker/
