‘Site Admin’ so long, ‘Super Admin’ take a bow

Following yesterday’s name change from Multi User to Multi Site the edits have been flowing thick and fast, the latest being another semantic switch from ‘site admin’ to ‘super admin’.

The change was marked down in this ticket submitted a few hours ago, and makes a fair bit of sense seeing as ‘Multi Site’ & ‘Site Admin’ would be pretty confusing.

You’d imagine that some further name changes would be in store too, and a fair number of hooks seem to be changing too.

But, needless to say, WPMU DEV plugins, themes and support material will all be updated to reflect the changes quicker than you can say ’3.0′ :)

And you can say up to date with core changes and a whole lot more by grabbing our RSS feed or following WPMU.org on Twitter.

  1. On my multi-site WordPress MU install I have it set up with both “Site Admin” and “Super Site Admin” (custom created) this way Site Admins cannot edit users of different site’s blogs, and the blogs that are on other sites.

  2. Yes, they will be adding a new “keymaster” type role that will have permission over every site.
