A few months ago I wrote a post that got a lot of coverage (much to my surprise!) In fact, it was linked to once again by WPMU.org favorite, SeoMoz, and we got a whole new traffic spike. In order to show my thanks for all the love I thought I would post a collection of free WordPress themes. I have aimed to get themes from outside of the WordPress repository as no doubt you’re all pretty aware of the ones there. Instead I’ve been hopping around the internet going straight to the source, grabbing any themes that I think look great.
Most of the themes have been created since the release of WordPress 3.0, and those that haven’t have been updated. I’ve also downloaded all of the themes and tested them on my local WordPress installation with TAC to make sure that there is no malicious code. And remember, if you decided free themes aren’t your thing, WPMU Dev has a continually growing collection of awesome premium WordPress themes.

some of these wordpress themes are not free and some links are broken
@andrew which links are broken? I’ll get them updated asap.
Also, all of the themes are free. There are two from Theme Foundry which look like they only have Pro versions but if you click on “Free Trial Download” on the right hand side of their download page you can download a lighter, GPL version of the theme.
the links for “Sight” are broken and “Mansion” is not free.
I have updated the link for Sight. Mansion is free but you need to sign up for free membership at Graph Paper Press to download it.

Thanks for that piece of information – I dont know but the grid theme is very similar to Elegant theme’s “The Style” =) and yet pretty different.

Wow, thanks very much for saving me so much time. Excellent themes and a great time saver.
Any chance you have a place where we can download all 100 themes at once without having to go through and download them one at a time. I would rather take ou the few I don’t want and put the rest up on my site…
Great list Siobhån – must have taken an age to put together. You mention these are all outside of the theme repository. Would it be worth putting in some form of disclaimer for users to check these themes for malware etc. just in case (I’m assuming some of these have not been reviewed by the theme review team). I’m presuming you’ve not had the time to check them all yourself either :)
@Ed I did actually check them using TAC to make sure there was no encoding in the files. Yes, it took me a long time (although not as long as you would think). I took screenshots but cutting them up and optimizing them to add to the post was a step to far.
@Jeff I don’t have a place to download all of the themes. It seems like a good thing to do though. You never know, if I have a few hours free some day I’ll download them and zip them up. No promises!
You were right. I didnt know there’s so many WP themes. All of them are great inspiration for designers as well as ordinary users. You just want to grab the mouse and click your new site :) nice work

This is a great collection. I have found a few I will test out that may suit my needs
