The Best Social Integration Plugins For WordPress Reviewed

There are over 350 WordPress plugins tagged “Share” in the WordPress plugin directory. But most of them, let’s be honest, fall short, with the exception of a handful of excellent winners.

I’d say there are three facets to social integration: Engagement, Self Promotion, and Viral Value. Whilst you can force none of these, there are definitely great tools out there to make it as easy as possible for you and your readers to make noise about your site on social networks.

Without further ado, I present to you the mighty five of WordPress social integration.

The Best and Worst Things About Builder Theme

Builder Theme is a premium WordPress theme foundation or framework by iThemes. iThemes Builder Theme launched on December 16th 2009. From the moment I saw the Builder theme (which was just before the launch during a preview webinar), I knew that I had found the last WordPress theme I would ever realistically need. Granted, Builder is not really the only theme to ever consider, it just happens to be one of my favorites. (Check out some of the other great themes available from WPMUdev as well.)

Excellent Free WordPress MU Themes

What makes a good WPMU theme?

Well, in my book, it’s all about simplicity… users need to be able top configure as many aspects of the theme as possible – without the need for a single code edit or extra plugin.

Well, first up over 13,000 posts isn’t too shabby! There’s a growing community of people there.

The First WPMU Plugin Competition

Update: The competition now has an official page where we’re cobbling everything together.

So, inspired by WLTC, and the many great entries that have been made (and may not have been inspired if it hadn’t been for the competition), let’s have the first ever WPMU plugin competition and hold it right here :)

Here’s the plan (it’s a bit flexible still, so feel free to make suggestions):

Let’s say the plugin competition is 60 days long and starts… now! Which means that the deadline for plugins to be submitted will be 24th September 2008

Plugin competitions a go go

Over at Weblog Tools Collection they’ve just announced the final prizes and, in a way, entries (they’ve been 51 of them and you can deduce what they are from the plugin blog.)

Which, brings up two interesting angles…

First up, as Incsub has put up a prize for the best WPMU plugin, I guess we’ve gotta choose form those that have been submitted. Does anyone have any favourites or think of any that stand out?

Secondly, I reckon WPMU.org would be the perfect place to hold a dedicated to WPMU plugin contents, dontcha think!
