Niche Showcase: 10 WordPress Themes for Retail

eCommerce is big business these days, with thousands of people using WordPress to sell their goods. Of course, this is matched by plugins, including our own MarketPress . This week’s showcase looks at retail themes, concentrating specifically on themes that have been created to sell actual, physical goods (as opposed to virtual stuff like themes or downloads). Nowadays it’s often the case that meatspace shops need an online equivalent and luckily there are theme designers making beautiful themes that are perfect for the job. Here are ten of my favorites:

Create a FrameMarket Child Theme for your Multisite Network

Last week we looked at how to make a basic FrameMarket Child. This week I want to show you all how to make a child theme with different presets for other users of your Multisite network to use. This means you can offer different looks to the shops in your network while maintaining control over the design.

The first few steps are exactly the same as last week:
1. Install FrameMarket
Follow the WPMU DEV installation instructions.
2. Create a Theme Folder
I’m calling mine “multimarket.”
3. Copy the Files
Navigate to framemarket>themes>gridmarket. Copy everything from that folder into your multimarket folder.
4. Edit style.css

We’ve had users keen to use FrameMarket for their multisite installation, as well as lots of people diving straight in to create their own child themes.

Tammie, our designer, took those comments on board and has updated both FrameMarket and GridMarket to include the user requests.
