Everyone knows Pinterest is all about images, but what some don’t realize is that some of the most popular images on Pinterest are actually images of quotations. In fact, there is a whole category devoted to “Quotes.”

Pinboard: Impressive Free WordPress Theme with Lots of Design Options

Although obviously billed as a Pinterest-style theme, the great thing about the new free Pinboard theme is that it’s so much more than that.

While you can obviously make your site look like a “pinboard,” you can make it look like a regular blog, a business site, a portfolio site, or a combination of those things.

The power behind all this flexibility lies in theme’s framework and grid system. For the user, this appears most readily in the easy-to-use customization panels found in the Admin area.

For example, here’s a look at some layout options for the homepage.

Jetpack Finally Adds Pinterest Support

A few weeks ago I posted about a plugin that adds Pinterest support to the Jetpack sharing module. Up until now this wasn’t available as part of Jetpack and had to either be hacked in or added as a separate plugin.

The recent Jetpack 1.6 release adds support for Pinterest. (*Cheers heard from Pinterest-addicts around the world*) If you upgrade, you will now see the Pinterest icon among the list of services that you can enable.

Add Pinterest Support to the Jetpack Sharing Module

The WordPress.org version of Jetpack doesn’t include Pinterest support in the Sharing module. I’ve tried to get in touch with the Jetpack team to find out when Pinterest will be added, but have never heard anything back from them. In the meantime, developer Barry Carlyon has created a plugin that will add a few extra features to Jetpack.

After browsing the Jetpack support forum, he found that many users had been requesting Pinterest support for 6+ months and decided to make this available in a new plugin called Jetpack Extras.

Pinterest…for Your WordPress Blog?

I get Pinterest. I really do.

I don’t use it, but I definitely get it. Its a social network for sharing images (duh). When you think about it, it’s rather crazy that someone didn’t come with it sooner. We all missed out on a great opportunity guys.

As an aside, it’s interesting that I chose to link to Pinterest above. I would never do that with Facebook or Twitter. I guess it’s a second class social media citizen in my eyes.
