Share Your WordPress Posts And Keep The Profits

by Matthew Tschoegl November 23rd, 2012 Leave a comment

For bloggers, social sharing of your posts is almost always a good thing.  A social share of your site brings in visitors who see the link, improves the Google juice of your website, and can expose your website to new audiences who might not visit it otherwise.

All of which are to the good.  But for the blogger who is trying to generate enough revenue from their website to cover expenses (whatever those might be), high volumes of traffic and social engagement are only half the battle.  You also need revenue in the form of ad clicks.

Buffer: the Best Social Media Sharing Solution for WordPress?

by Tom Ewer September 26th, 2012 3 Responses

Social media networks are awesome tools for bloggers.

They allow you to place your content in front of a pre-existing audience of likeminded people. Once you have started to build up a following, the snowball effect takes over, and your network begins to grow of its own accord.

Having said that, you must work in order to keep your social media profiles fresh. If you are not consistently active on the likes of Facebook and Twitter, your fans and followers will soon lost interest.

Simple Social Sharing Stats for WordPress

by Tom Ewer July 23rd, 2012 Leave a comment

I’m always on the lookout for good social sharing plugins. After all, I am a bit of a social media junkie these days.

In the past I’ve reviewed my fair share – whether it’s Digg Digg, Shareaholic, or Social Metrics. That last plugin is of most relevance today, as although I liked it, it did leave me feeling rather uncomfortable.

Automate WordPress with IFTTT

by Clifford Paulick July 19th, 2012 Leave a comment

IFTTT puts the internet to work for you.
What is IFTTT?
“If this then that” is a simple phrase that defines the robust IFTTT service. Although it’s not new, it is constantly evolving, improving, and growing its user base.

If you can think of something happening (a trigger), you can tell IFTTT to do something (an action) as a result. By default, these recipes run every 15 minutes. Optionally, certain recipes can run as soon as triggered, called quick triggers, instead of only every 15 minutes. Over time, more and more triggers will become quick-enabled.

by Tom Ewer June 22nd, 2012 3 Responses

Okay – I’m going to admit it up front – I’m a Digg Digg user.

Having said that, I don’t have my head stuck in the sand, and am fully aware that Shareaholic is an enormously popular social sharing plugin. And since they released a major update just a few days ago, I thought it would be best to take a look and see what’s changed.

It turns out that the answer is “rather a lot”.

CalPress Event Calendar – The Ultimate Calendar Plugin?

by Tom Ewer April 30th, 2012 8 Responses

That’s how CalPress Event Calendar bills itself anyway – “The Ultimate Calendar Plugin”. Quite a bold claim, given that there are some well-established plugins of a similar nature out there.

The WordPress appointment calendar plugin is based on the extremely successful All-in-One Event Calendar. Notable additions include Facebook timeline integration, social sharing, and attendee management. Furthermore, the developers have also put quite a lot of effort into beautifying the user interface.

3 Easy Methods To Promoting Social Sharing On Your Blog

by Tom Ewer February 24th, 2012 8 Responses

Effectively utilizing social media is a great way of building traffic. Broadly speaking, there are two strategies that you should follow:

Build up a strong social network of followers to whom you can promote your content
Have people promote your content on your behalf

The effectiveness of the second strategy is contingent upon the first – the stronger your social network is, the more likely that more people will be exposed to your content via your followers’ shares.

Floating Social Bar Adds Icons for Sharing WordPress Posts

by Sarah Gooding June 9th, 2011 9 Responses

There are a few floating social bars available in the WordPress plugin repository. The Floating Social Bar is a new one that functions much smoother than many of the others I’ve seen. It adds a convenient and unobtrusive floating bar filled with only the icons that you select.

Here’s what it looks like on the front end:

The plugin allows you to easily select from approximately 40 icons within the admin panel:
