May 17, 2010 You may remember a project we started back in the day called Blogs.mu – well, unfortunately that didn’t work out so great, but we decided that the least we could do is to share around the work we did on it.
And so, for your themeing pleasure we’ve just released The Blogs.mu theme – ready for your BuddyPress, WPMU or regular WordPress site!

The theme features a stack of extra new features such as allowing members to customize their own profile page by adding video, flickr, profile headers, profile blog feeds and integrating their own social network feeds such as twitter, facebook, myspace among others.
The theme includes extensive options allowing site admin to control privacy on members profiles or directories and customize site details such as featured services and featured section and also featured text.
Here’s an almost complete list of features (we couldn’t put them all in as it’d take all day!):
- 3 page templates – blog, full width and new page login template
- CSS elements like fonts, button color, link color are editable via theme option
- Custom admin bar colors
- Customizable welcome intro message and sub intro message
- Homepage intro feature block
- Homepage team/group features…controllable via theme options (random or by site admin group id choice).
- Homepage sub intro feature block
- Homepage 3 section message feature block
- Homepage 6 custom post block where you can choose to use custom upload crop with editable text or post mode which grabs your latest category post according to your featured category in theme option
- Custom image field support
- Custom header ability
- Advert code or image placement
- Built in widgets: most commented and BuddyPress search directory widget
- Privacy options: Allow only logged in users to view members profiles along with members directory and switch to stop normal users creating groups or joining ones unless created by admin or editors
- Create your own theme styles using the easy styling system
- Parent and child themes allowing for easy updates
- Theme options that mean no code editing required to configure any feature on this theme
- Profile option allows member to customize their own profile page
- Profile social media option where member can set their network links
- Profile video and Flickr options
- New random group and friend suggestions in sidebar
- New Facebook ‘like’ button fro stream and blog post – can be turn off via theme option
