WordPress Advertisement Plugins To Monetize Your Website

WordPress Advertisement Plugins To Monetize Your Website

Online advertising is a mainstay of the internet. It has helped most businesses and individuals earn money online and it’s safe to say internet marketing isn’t going anywhere.

Adding advertising to your WordPress site is simple enough to do and plugins can make the task even easier. But while there are many advertising plugins available, they aren’t all created equal – even Google’s official Adsense plugin has received mixed reviews.

The plugins listed below allow you to display ads on your site in the most effective places to optimize your space. You won’t even have to mess with code (though you’re most welcome to if you like).

  • AdRotate Banner Manager

AdRotate Banner Manager is a great plugin if you want to display banner ads (or AdSense) or sell advertising space on your site. It lets you create different ad groups with different ad sizes, run unlimited ads, track ad impressions and clicks, view statistical reports, use uploaded banner images or images sourced from external URLs, set different weights and geotargeting for ads in rotations, schedule ads, and more.

Ads can be placed inside your content with a shortcode, in widgets on your sidebar, or automatically injected into posts and pages in different categories and locations (eg. at the top and/or bottom of your posts, or after the first, second, third, etc. paragraph). As the name implies, AdRotate Banner Manager is more an ad banner management plugin than an ad-selling solution, although the paid version of the plugin allows you to give advertisers the option of uploading and managing their own adverts.

This plugin has comprehensive features, is regularly updated, and well supported. It’s also easy to install and use, its interface is very intuitive, and there are many options you can configure for your specific needs.

  • Advanced Ads

Advanced Ads lets you easily place ads on your site using a page that is similar to the post editor. You can set up ad rotations, scheduling, set expiry dates, and choose where ads are shown on your site.

Ads can be displayed on all or specific pages, posts, and even tags. You can also choose which visitors can see your ads. The plugin includes a dedicated Gutenberg block for ads and offers an add-on that lets you sell ads on your website automatically.

Advanced Ads is easy to install and set up and is also customizable using WordPress or the plugin’s own hooks. It integrates with all ad types and networks, including Google Adsense and Amazon ads and touts itself as the only advertising solution plugin for WordPress that offers Ad Health integration and Google AdSense violation checks.

  • Corner Ad

As the name suggests, Corner Ad is a plugin that displays a minimally invasive ad on either of the top corners of your site.

It looks as though the page is being peeled away at the corner to reveal your ad. When the mouse hovers over it, the ad is expanded to the full size and reveals more information. It also flips backs into position when the mouse moves away.

Use this highly configurable plugin to display ads that will grab your visitors’ attention without being over-the-top.

  • AdPlugg

AdPlugg is a unique plugin on this list because it includes analytics and other ad tracking features in order to make sure you’re getting the most out of each ad you publish.

AdPlugg lets you insert ads into any widget area on your site and different locations on your pages with options to schedule and rotate these. It also supports ads in Facebook Instant Articles and Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). You will need to create a free account on the AdPlugg website to use this plugin. A free account includes up to 100,000 impressions a month and you don’t have to upgrade. But if you need more ad impressions, the pro plan is affordable and flexible.

  • WordPress Ad Widget

Consider using WordPress Ad Widget if you don’t need many options and you would prefer an easy way to display ads in your sidebar without any coding at all.

It’s as easy to install as most other plugins and all it takes to set up is uploading an image and adding a link to the sidebar with this widget. I was able to set one up in less than two minutes, including the plugin installation process.

It’s particularly worth mentioning here because there is a separate widget included that lets you add your own Javascript and HTML for added functionality.

  • Meks Easy Ads Widget

Meks Easy Ads Widget is another widget that’s super easy to install and use. It’s particularly helpful because it lets you place ads side-by-side in your site’s sidebar in order to display more ads in the same amount of space compared to other plugins and widgets.

If you run a popular blog and would like to sell ad space in your sidebar to create some extra income for yourself, you can create an unlimited number of ads with this plugin so your extra income doesn’t have to be limited.

It’s easy to install and among the basic options are ad rotation and custom sizing. Still, it’s not the most robust widget available, so it may be a great one to use in combination with other plugins on this list.

  • Ad Inserter

Ad Inserter is an ad management plugin that lets you insert ads before or after posts, content, paragraphs (including random or multiple paragraphs) images, comments, excerpts, etc. The plugin supports ads from various platforms, including Google AdSense, contextual Amazon Native Shopping Ads, and rotating banners.

In addition to easily adding Adsense or banners to your site, this plugin also provides advanced options to insert opt-in forms, header scripts, and tracking or advert code anywhere on your pages.

  • CM Ad Changer

CM Ad Changer virtually transforms your WordPress site into an ad server. You can manage, track, and report banner advertising campaigns with unlimited banners and ad campaigns across multiple WordPress sites simultaneously using the plugin’s intuitive and user-friendly management console.

When used as an ad management server, you can configure the plugin’s settings to manage or restrict the appearance of banner ads according to the campaign parameters that you set. For example, you can customize settings to include days of the week and custom ad campaign dates. The plugin will automatically resize banners based on the user’s device.

The pro version lets you set maximum numbers of impressions or clicks per banner, and include mobile responsive ads, popup ads, HTML ads, and video ads. You can also choose the advert type, schedule campaigns, set up banner ad rotation and specify the weight of individual banners.
