We’re almost there, it’s our penultimate… prior to the century, plugin!
And oh my word… it’s a good one :)
So… when God Donncha invented WPMU probably the first thing anyone yearned for was some way of connecting all the blogs on one site, of displaying all posts in one place of having…. a global tag cloud.
Something like the WordPress.com tag cloud… perhaps.
Well, we like to deliver, and deliver in style… please enjoy the WordPress MU Global Tags Plugin!

Prior to this, it’s been a tricky proposition as tags and categories aren’t indexed globally, and then you needed an expert coder to put it all in place for you.
Not any more!
This powerful and elegant plugin allows you to do two things – first up it provides you with a global tags widget so that you can simply show a beautiful tag cloud on your homepage without even looking at a drop of code.
Then all you have to do is create a page with the slug ‘tags’ and it’ll give you a full size page view of them too.

And finally, click on a tag and you’ll get a chronological, paginated list – with avatars of all the posts for that particular tag:

How cool is that indeed! Happy tagging :)
You can download the plugin here.
And… remember, that entries are still open for the opportunity to win 5 yearly WPMU DEV Premium memberships worth $419 each to celebrate 100 plugins, themes and videos at WPMU DEV Premium… and it’s 100% free to enter and enjoy! Click here to participate.

Nice one!
Is the tag cloud cached in some way or generated from the post indexer every time the page is shown?
Pretty much I believe :)
Sweet, just in time for a project I have been working on, was putting off writing this up myself. cant wait to see how it works.
So when is the big day, number 100?
So, sort of like an extension of my sitewide tags plugin?
Our sitewide tags plugin is completely different from your plugin. Everything resides on the main blog instead of an additional blog and the data is pulled from our post indexer plugin. It was coded 100% from scratch :)
Is it possible to adapt this tag so that say, if I wanted to output a list of posts for only *ONE* tag from across the whole site. Say a list of posts that are tagged as “city-politics” or something like that?
Yeh, for sure, in fact it already does this – you just need to link to / include the single tag display. Roll by the premium forums if you need some coding help re: how to do that.
