Bret has announced that he is working on a RPM package to include WordPress MU as an optional package in Fedora Core 10. This may lead to it being included in CentOS down the road as well.

The next logical step is more likely to be getting the package into EPEL: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL
I’m not that tuned-in re: CentOS, but I think they try to keep the core distribution equivalent to RHEL, and then allow additional repos to layer on-top.
My biggest concern at this point is the rate at which wpmu is changing; it doesn’t really fit well w/ EPEL’s packaging guidelines. I may offer more casual RHEL5′ish builds via fedorapeople.org or something along those lines while we see how wpmu fares in f10+, and engage the EPEL folks for longer-range guidance.
