The Secret to Finding Big, Beautiful Panoramic Images for Your WordPress Blog

Have you noticed how many WordPress themes there are out there that feature massive, panoramic images in the sliders? Or perhaps the featured images require an unusual panoramic ratio. Certainly panoramic images can be stunning and impactful, but how in the world do you find suitable images for such a requirement?

The secret is simple…

You just have to know where to look. There are tons of places to find panoramic images. Of course you can always pay for stock images but more than likely you’re on the hunt for free or creative commons-licensed images. Here are a few places where you can quickly search for high quality, free images for your blog.

Compfight

This is one of my favorite sites for finding beautiful panoramic images. When you select the “Creative Commons” filter the site will locate images that have been licensed through Creative Commons including images available for commercial use. Include the word “panoramic” in your search and you’ll find dozens of appropriately-sized images.

The Compfight search was created especially for those looking for images to use on blogs, comps, inspiration, and research. It makes use of the flickr™ API but is not affiliated with flickr.

Everystockphoto

Everystockphoto.com is another one of my favorite sites for finding free images. Just pop “panoramic” in the search field and you’ll turn up tons of images you can use.

Freerange Stock

This site is full of fantastic, high resolution images that you can use. All images here are at least 2400 x 1600, and photos can be used for commercial or personal projects. Search “panorama” or “panoramic” to find suitably-sized images for your blog.

Creative Commons

The Creative Commons Search is a portal to several places where you can find high quality images. You can tailor your search to return results that you can use commercially, modify, adapt or build upon.

I hope you’ve found a few sites that you can bookmark for the next time you’re needing free stock photos and/or panoramic images for your blog. Are we missing any of your favorites? Let us know in the comments.
